David W. Brown, Ph.D., CFP® – Planned Giving Associate

David W. Brown, Interim Associate Vice President for Development & Director of Planned Giving at Georgia State University, serves the Firm as Planned Giving Associate by special arrangement. Georgia State is a nationally-ranked research and doctoral university. The university enrolls more than 25,000 students and 130,000 alumni. David administers a comprehensive planned giving program at the University. He is a Certified Financial Planner® licensee (CFP) and has more than 20 years experience in development and planned giving.

Associated with AHM&P since 1997, David provides a variety of planned giving services to the firm's clients. These include evaluations of individual donor situations with recommendations as to planned giving options which are appropriate for the donor's financial and philanthropic goals. He's available to meet with individual donors and to respond to the client's staff. David works with AHM&P consultants and principals conducting advancement audits and campaign strategy studies where planned giving issues arise as well as in the course of campaign engagements.A past president of the Georgia Planned Giving Council, David has published articles on planned giving in the CASE International Journal of Educational Advancement, the International Journal of Voluntary and Nonprofit Sector Marketing, Planned Giving Today, and The Chronicle of Philanthropy. He has conducted planned giving and financial planning workshops for the Fund-Raising Project, the Georgia and Piedmont chapters of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), the Visiting Nurses Association of America, the Georgia Planned Giving Council, and Leave A Legacy Georgia. A graduate of Central Connecticut State University, he received his master's degree in Community Leadership and Development from Springfield College (Mass.) and his Ph.D. in Educational Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi.A sampling of David's current and recent clients include:
