Kay L. Whitman - Associate Partner With over 20 years of leadership success in higher education and other non-profit sectors, Kay brings a wealth of fund-raising results to the Firm. Prior to joining AHM&P, Kay served as Associate Vice Chancellor for the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, overseeing all constituent staff, playing a leadership role during the institution's $1 billion campaign. As Director of Development for the University of Tennessee College of Business Administration she provided the leadership to secure the new state-of-the-art building for the college; successfully soliciting a $45 million gift, one of the largest campaign commitments in the history of the University. Kay also served as Director of Development at the University of Colorado College of Law, where she formulated key strategies for working with faculty and staff. She has also led regional development efforts for both the University of Colorado and the University of Illinois. Prior to her work in the development field, Kay had a successful career as a teacher at both the secondary and collegiate levels, and served as a community leader/fundraiser in Boulder, Colorado. In both volunteer and professional capacities, Kay has consulted with small non-profits, including the Boulder Valley School Foundation and the Oak Ridge Public School Education Foundation, helping to develop strategies that support and sustain growth. She was a Senior Vice President for Major Gifts for the American Heart Association in Chicago, analyzing their ability to integrate a major gift strategy into their fund-raising portfolio. Kay graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with both a B.A. and M.A. in English, but is proud to call the South her home. |
